Release Date of Criminal Minds Evolution

Longtime viewers of “Criminal Minds” erupted in delight on January 12th when news broke of Season 2 being greenlit by Paramount+. The announcement was made official on the show’s Instagram with a photo of Rossi, Prentiss, and Tara, sending cheers echoing throughout the fandom.

Tanya Giles, Chief Programming Officer for Paramount Streaming, swiftly joined the celebration. “We’re ecstatic to deliver even more mind-bending narratives to our dedicated ‘Criminal Minds Evolution’ viewers with a second season,” she enthused in a statement per Deadline. The series consistently ranks among Paramount+’s top performers, and fans have enthusiastically embraced the new, serialized format. This season still holds many shocking turns and challenges for the BAU, and we can’t wait for fans to experience what awaits.

Criminal Minds Evolution- What has happened so far?

(This part contains spoilers, steer clear if you do not want a recap yet)

Joe Mantegna’s SSA and other fan-favorite FBI agents made triumphant returns in the newest season of Criminal Minds Evolution, which aired for ten episodes. Section chief Emily Prentiss is played by David Rossi and Paget Brewster. The SSA of A.J. Cook Dr. Tara Lewis (Aisha Tyler) and Penelope Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness) struggled with their relationships, while Jennifer Jareau stole the show with an emotional family plot. The SSA of Adam Rodriguez In the midst of a complex web of personal and professional challenges, Luke Alvez was a rock for his teammates.

Guest performer Zach Gilford played the villain Sicarius, who was introduced in the main narrative. An unsub who used the epidemic to set up a network of serial killers presented the Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) with their greatest danger to date. The BAU was forced to begin a dogged pursuit, handling each murder with meticulousness, as the network became operative as the globe reopened.

The serialization of Criminal Minds Evolution enabled a more thorough examination of each tale and marked a significant change to the show. The 10-episode season allowed for a more concentrated storytelling style, with an emphasis on character development and complex plotlines, as it was not constrained by network TV scheduling.

Although it had unforeseen effects, Rossi’s ingenuity resulted in a satisfactory conclusion in the season finale. Even though he was faced with a difficult circumstance because to the cave-in that he had caused, he remained determined after receiving encouragement from the spirit of his late wife, Krystall.

Doug ended up paying the price for wanting answers when Deputy Director Bailey’s solitary encounter with Voit at the holiday property took a sorrowful turn. The UnSub was captured after the BAU helped Voit’s family escape. As a sign of perseverance and resolve, Rossi’s courageous escape from a shipping container stands as an inspiration.

An interesting VIP visitation to Voit at the end of the season hinted at unanswered questions and loose ends. Prentiss delivered a moving eulogy as the BAU gathered to remember Bailey at her burial. As they toasted their dead teammate and reminisced on the difficulties they had overcome, the team’s solidarity shone through.

Prentiss delivered a moving eulogy at Bailey’s burial, while Penelope and Luke decompressed by admitting they would inevitably revert to old habits in their profession. A remark that Luke shared with Penelope, which surprised her with his knowledge of Emily Dickinson, was fitting: “the heart wants what it wants or else it doesn’t care.”

As Rossi, Tara, and Prentiss tried to understand what happened following Bailey’s acts, the audience was on the edge of their seats in the conclusion. With armed personnel emptying a floor and Elias waiting for an unknown talk, the episode ended with a sneak peek at what’s to come, making viewers of Criminal Minds Evolution eagerly anticipate the next chapter.

Has Criminal Minds Evolution begun filming yet?

Good news all Criminal Minds fans! Our favorite BAU agents are on the ground (or the jet, which, by the way, Erica Messer confirmed, is coming back) and have it running. There was a hiatus in the filming which lasted quite a few months owing to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes in the summer. The team is set to film the latest season of Criminal Minds. On their formal Instagram page, Criminal Minds posted an update with the caption “The BAU is Back!” resumed the shoot on January 16. They also added that “The new season of Criminal Minds: Evolution is officially in production 🎬.” which means it won’t be long before you see your favorite profilers back on duty.

Criminal Minds Evolution Cast

  • Joe Mantegna- SSA David Rossi
  • Paget Brewster- BAU unit chief Emily Prentiss
  • J. Cook- SSA Jennifer “JJ” Jareau
  • Kirsten Vangsness as tech analyst Penelope Garcia
  • Adam Rodriguez- SSA Luke Alvez
  • Aisha Tyler- Dr. Tara Lewis
  • Zach Gilford- Elias Voit
  • Ryan-James Hanataka- Tyler Green

Josh Stewart will not be reprising his role as JJ’s husband Detective Will LaMontagne Jr., which is quite a shocker. Will the power couple break up? Does this mean that the team is planning to pair JJ and Reid together? Is Reid coming back? So many questions, but the answers will arrive with the episodes of Evolution. Nicholas D’Agosto’s Directory Doug Bailey did die at the hands of Voit, but may reprise his role.

When Will Matthew Gray Gubler return as Dr Spencer Reid?

The last season of Criminal Minds did miss the whimsical intellect of the youngest profiler Dr Reid and fans have been spamming everyone they can find to get Reid back. The show revealed that Reid was on a super secret mission at a different unit, and thus, will not be joining them. Erica Messers hinted at a possible Reid and fan reunion saying that “It’s a little bit of a mystery what Reid and Simmons are up to, but they’re certainly not forgotten,” she also added “Dr. Reid’s and I believe Matt Simmons’ desks are still there, still have stuff on it.”

Gubler’s timing has not been working yet and he has not been able to join the team due to conflicting schedules, but AJ has let the world know that Gubler loved the season and hopes to come back, just if the timing fits right. I just hope that I see more of Reid every season.
